Biography

Susan Barker Demler is a Director of Kirshbaum Demler & Associates, Inc., one of the world's most respected artist representation and public relations agencies for classical music. Ms. Demler entered the industry in 1991 as an Associate for Shirley Kirshbaum at Shirley Kirshbaum & Associates, and by 1999 had become a Director and Partner of the prestigious agency. Kirshbaum Demler & Associates, Inc., located on New York's Upper West Side, has built a solid reputation as a highly personalized office that represents a small, but eminent roster of artists. The company specializes in campaigns and programs for the arts, particularly those supporting classical musicians, ensembles and institutions.

The philosophy of the agency is to balance office staff with artists to enable ongoing personal interaction. All aspects of management, booking, servicing, and public relations are carried out by only a handful of employees who are fully aware of each artist's special needs. Throughout her career, Ms. Demler has had access to all genres of media and entertainment, including film, television, the recording industry, literature, news and print media, as well as architecture and the visual arts.

Ms. Demler began her career as a musician and educator, receiving degrees in both Vocal Performance and Education from the University of Arizona, where she was named Outstanding Senior of the College of Arts & Sciences. She received her master's degree from the Eastman School of Music where she was an award winning student of the late Jan DeGaetani. Ms. Demler appeared as guest soloist with a number of opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout North America before choosing to retire from performing in order to pursue her career 'behind the scenes' as an artist manager and publicist.
