NEW YORK, New York (January 19, 2009) – The Institute for Media and Entertainment (IME), the leader in media and entertainment executive education, announced FAME (
Finance and Accounting for Media Professionals), a new spring course for mid to senior-level media executives with non-financial backgrounds who want to advance their careers.
IME, a New York-based partner of IESE Business School, will offer the 3-day intensive course on March 10-12, 2009 in Manhattan. FAME teaches
finance for nonfinancial managers from a media and entertainment perspective, helping experienced non-financial media professionals enhance their decision-making skills and improve their fundamental understanding of accounting, finance, and financial reporting.
"Education is the only 'no risk' investment you can make,” said IME Managing Director Rich Sabreen, who is the former General Manager of Bloomberg Radio and Television. “Since
accounting and finance are the language of business, speaking this language will enable you to run your business effectively, talk to your colleagues and deal with the financial community more directly,” Sabreen added. “Without it, you'll not only face the possibility of being left out of crucial conversations, but also of missing opportunities to advance both your business and your career.”
FAME classes will be taught by IESE Business School Associate Dean Eric Weber, Ph.D. who teaches Accounting and Control at the top-ranked business school, and Hillel Maximon, Senior Lecturer of Accounting and Control at IESE Business School who has taught Financial Statement Analysis, Financial and Management Accounting, and Real Estate Finance at New York University, Rutgers University and Columbia University. Professor Maximon specializes in production and inventory control, as well as the development and implementation of financial and cost accounting systems.
Subject Matter Experts also include Jill Krutick, Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Development at Warner Music Group and Nathan Richardson, CEO at ContentNext Media, Inc.
