Two Leading Institutions Launch “Transformative” Management Program to Prepare Next Generation Leaders in Media and Entertainment
New York, NY March 16, 2010 – Renowned industry thought leader The Paley Center for Media, and top-ranked IESE Business School, have teamed up to launch an Advanced Management Program (AMP) that is positioned to be a “must have” industry credential among aspiring media and entertainment leaders. Officially called the IESE Business School-Paley Center Advanced Management Program (AMP) in Media and Entertainment – or the Media AMP for short – this “transformative” management program is designed to create a cadre of dynamic leaders, equipping them with the business skills to shape the future of media and entertainment. The first session of the program is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2011.
The Media AMP is a global program designed to fill an executive education void in the media and entertainment industry worldwide. Typically, media and entertainment firms have tended to fill their C-suite (CEO, COO, CFO, CMO, etc.) and leadership positions with talent from within their own ranks and industry. It is common to find top performing managers getting promoted to leadership positions without the benefit of formal business education. The Media AMP will bring media and entertainment executives up-to-speed on new business models, cutting-edge management techniques, industry trends, and technologies. This postgraduate level program will augment their existing business skills.
With the Media AMP as an industry credential, the program can potentially be a game-changer, redefining how executives advance their careers in this industry. Just as management consultants typically need to acquire an MBA as a credential to move forward in their industry, media and entertainment professionals will need to take the Media AMP so that they will become better equipped to meet the challenges of their next big assignments. Executives will gain a competitive edge from business courses designed specifically to help them lead their media and entertainment companies in a highly competitive climate, often driven by rapidly changing business models.
IESE Business School is based in Europe and is among the top-ranked business schools in the world. IESE is about to open a New York Center this spring. The Paley Center for Media is a global thought leader on the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, radio, and emerging platforms for the professional community and media-interested public.
“At IESE, we seek to impact the management profession by offering high-quality learning to students and senior executives from around the world. Our programs foster a culture of learning. Our people-centered approach reflects our belief that the aim of managers must be to serve people and society,” said Jordi Canals, Dean of IESE Business School. “Individuals will benefit from this program by learning to think like CEOs, enabling them to advance in their careers and empowering them to shape the future of media and entertainment businesses,” said Canals.
“The Paley Center serves as a convener of industry executives and as a leader of discussions about the evolving media landscape — as such we are an ideal partner for IESE in this new venture," said Pat Mitchell, president and CEO of The Paley Center for Media. "The combination of the Paley Center’s close relationships within the media industry and IESE’s internationally respected business curriculum will make the Media AMP the ‘gold standard’ of executive education in this industry,” said Mitchell.
The Media AMP is the first program of its kind for media and entertainment executives. It gives participants the opportunity to boost their management and business skills with only a few months of intensive training. It can likewise become a crucial component for companies in their development of high-potential people and in their succession planning.
